Steel Plate Match - July 19, 2008

The steel plate match on Saturday, July 19, 2008, was a lot of fun. Twelve shooters were divided into two squads, and a total of 27 guns were scored.
Lee Ovaert was the Match winner, shooting the match in a total time of 68.51 seconds. He was the only shooter whose time was under 100 seconds. All the scores can be viewed on the Little River Sportsman's Association website.

Welcome Micah Matthews to his first competition at our range. He was able to get some experience with his new pistol.

We had the most wheel guns we've had in a long time, both Revolvers and Modified Revolvers. Tony Mock did very well with his new Model 19, and Ken Norton had a lot of fun with his 8-shot 686 - it seemed to be much more forgiving on that spinner.

Mark Canada had problems with his pistol - he eventually discovered a very loose rear sight which had been moved extremely left. I'm sure he'll do better next time!

Thanks to Mark Canada and Don Distefano for helping with the setup on Friday afternoon. Everyone who helps usually comes up with new ideas for target setting that brings variety to the shoots every month. If you'd like to help with the arrangement of targets, all you have to do is show up on the Friday before and bring your ideas with you.

Young Micheal Jacobs got some experience in running the timer and did a good job keeping his squad timed and scored. A big thanks to him for helping with the totaling up the scores. Thanks to him and his dad, Lonnie, for getting the targets securely back in the shed and getting the sign changed.

All in all it was a very successful match, although it did begin to get hot before we finished.
